Obituary

Wilma Pauline (Bunch) Vaughn passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 92. She had been a resident of Boone County, Missouri, since 1956, living in Ashland since 1967. Wilma was born in Miller County, Missouri, near Eldon, to William and Ethel (Hees) Bunch. She was married to Cecil A. Vaughn in Tuscumbia, Missouri, on August 20, 1949. From this union, four children were born: Brenda, Deborah, Bill, and Paula. The grandchildren made her family large, but love abounded!

Wilma was a born-again Christian of the Baptist faith for over 75 years, with her membership at Ashland Baptist Church last.

Wilma worked outside the home for 20 years. She was employed by the Exchange National Bank in 1959 in Columbia, Missouri. This bank went through several owners and name changes during those 20 years. The latter one was Simmons Bank. She worked as a bookkeeper, proof operator, and supervisor of both departments. She retired in 1979 as an Assistant Operations Officer of the bank.

Her great love was always her home and family! Being at home made life the happiest.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jerry W. Bunch, an infant sister, Delma Dean, an infant grandson, and her husband, Cecil, of 52 years, who passed away in December of 2001. She had lived alone since that time. God allowed her to live in mostly good health, and she enjoyed life and her family.

She is survived by one son, William Wesley Vaughn (wife Pam) of Hartsburg, Mo; three daughters, Brenda Weston (husband Paul) of Ashland, Mo, Deborah Miles, (husband Charles, deceased) Holden, Mo, Paula Johnson (husband Tim) of Columbia, Mo; seven grandchildren, Melissa Closser of Auxvasse, Mo, Timothy Closser (wife Kim) of Jefferson City, Mo, Stephanie Sapp (husband Casey) of Hartsburg, Mo, Kevin Strain of Independence, Mo, Scott Strain (wife Nichole) of North Kansas City, Mo, Brandon Nichols (wife Ana) of Boca Raton, FL, Brian Nichols (wife Katie) of Ozark, Mo; 20 great-grandchildren, Ashley Reynolds, James Brown, Ross Brown, Ryan Sapp, Hayley Sapp, Cole Strain, Bailey Strain Clark, Hunter Strain, Lauren Amann, Kennedy Harris, C.J. (Cecil) Closser, Jacob Closser, Nicholas Closser, Samuel Closser, Vivian Nichols, Harriet Nichols, Francis Nichols, Julia Nichols, Victoria Nichols, Aiden Nichols; and 10 great-great grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Phillip Amann, Wesley Amann, Bentley Brown, Jesse Brown, Hayes Stain, Lux Strain, Asher Harris, Sutton Harris and Everett Closser.

Services honoring Wilma will be held at Robinson-Yager Funeral Home on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 2 p.m. and the family will receive friends for one hour prior. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Ashland.

Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Baptist Homes of Ashland SNF and Preferred Hospice, Columbia, Mo.
