Shellene Yvonne (Spene) Tyson, passed away on April 25, 2024, at 11:56 p.m. in the presence of her friends and family, following a long illness.
Shellene, known by all as Shelly, was born on August 20, 1967, in Mexico, Missouri to Walter and Connie Spene. In 1978, the family moved to Columbia, Missouri where she grew up. Shelly and her husband reside south of Columbia.
Shelly was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was a compassionate, trustworthy, and loyal individual with a wonderful zest for life, and a quick and lively sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Tyson Sr.; her mother, Connie Spene of Deer Park; two sons, James and Sheldon; one daughter, Jennifer; her sister, Marlene York and husband Harold of New Franklin and their children, John and Kayla; lifelong friend, Carole Rule and husband Devon of Columbia; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Spene, and her grandparents.
Shelly was employed by Greenway Shuttles in 2013 and became their general manager. She proved to be a deeply caring and competent leader who truly loved all her teammates, who respected her in return. The entire staff of Greenway Shuttles mourn her passing.
Shelly had numerous talents and followed in her beloved father’s footsteps and became an award-winning bass player. She enjoyed a long musical career, playing with numerous groups in Missouri, well respected for her talents. Shelly had numerous hobbies, candle and soap making, jewelry design and repair, and diamond painting for a few. She loved studying minerals, crystals, and gemstones, and had an extensive collection. Shelly was also an excellent automotive mechanic and took great pride in her repair work and teaching capabilities.
A year ago, Shelly gave her heart and life to God. She enjoyed a rich fellowship with a non-denominational Christian congregation and remained faithful until her passing.
Shelly was a people person and animal lover. She had a spirit of generosity and did all she could for others in need. She learned from her experiences and shared her successes with equal grace. She loved to have fun and laugh and lightened the hearts of all who knew her. She had a positive impact on everyone and will be greatly missed.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Robinson-Yager Funeral Home with a brief memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
