Southern Boone County has lost a devoted educator, counselor, mother, and friend. Sharon Dian (Howe) Bullard passed away in her sleep on April 20, 2026. Her 84 years were a blessing to all who knew her.
Born in Columbia July 20, 1941, Sharon was raised in and around Neosho, before attending University of Missouri where she met the love of her life, William Edward Bullard. They were married on July 16, 1961, and settled on their farm outside Ashland raising three sons, Brad, Klif, and Timothy.
Sharon dedicated herself to the field of education. Teaching Social Studies at Southern Boone County High School, she was a favorite of many students, not just for the content of what she taught, but for how she made students feel. She became a Guidance Counselor and continued mentoring and advocating for youth, eventually moving to the New Bloomfield school district. Sharon retired from the Nichols Career Center in Jefferson City, where she did meaningful work with adults, expanding their education and opportunities.
Sharon cared deeply for her community. Much of her energy was channeled through her church Peace UCC in Hartsburg. As a member of numerous committees and councils, quilting circle, Christian education, and as a Lay Leader, she was always looking for ways to support people.
Sharon was a trusted confidant, counselor, and encourager to many. Her strong hugs were always tight and lasted long enough to be sure you felt her love. Many a person walked away with a splash of coffee on their clothes - a sign of Sharon’s loving embrace.
Sharon leaves a loving legacy with her sons Bradford, Klifton (LeAnn), and Timothy (Cindy) Bullard and her grandchildren: Devin, Brett, Will, Ava, Shannon, Liam, Mia, and great-grandson Connor. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Agnes Howe, her beloved husband, William (Ed) Bullard, and her sisters Christine Howe and Arlene Rickard.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27th at 9am, at Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg. Memorial services at 10am, officiated by Pastor Michael Tatum. Lunch will be served following the service.
Memorials can be made in Sharon’s name to the church.
To truly honor Sharon’s memory would be to spread love and kindness in your community. Stop and truly listen to a stranger, offer them encouragement, and a chocolate chip cookie. Her spirit lives on in us all.

Robinson-Yager Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bullard family.
