Paul Lester Nichols, 98, of Hartsburg, Missouri passed away March 30, 2026, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Robinson-Yager Funeral Home with burial following in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hartsburg. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

Paul was born in Claysville, Missouri on April 17, 1927, the son of the late, Paul B. and Nannie Mildred (Case) Nichols. He was born on Easter Sunday and he celebrated his 11th, 22nd, 33rd and 95th birthdays on Easter. He was married to Irene Nichols for 76 years – (April 28, 1945, until Irene’s death on September 28, 2021). He was a member of Hartsburg Baptist Church. He served his country with the U. S. Army during WWII from 1945 to 1947. He was an automobile mechanic for most of his life, working at Woody’s Automotive and Fisher’s Auto Service in Columbia, Missouri for a large part of his career.

He put in a large garden until he was 96 years old, his specialty being his Russian tomatoes and Cockscomb flowers. He enjoyed making donuts for many functions within the Hartsburg community as well as for family gatherings and would share with various businesses throughout the community (The Villa, Moser’s, Wren’s Automotive, LT’s Barbershop, Hartsburg Baptist Church and Hartsburg Legion activities to name a few). He and Irene participated in numerous craft shows with Irene selling various handmade items and Paul his woodwork items and handpicked walnuts. He loved watching his hummingbirds and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Greene (Tim); daughter-in-law, Ronda Nichols (Dwayne); 6 grandchildren, Trevor Nichols (Shawna), Shawn Nichols (Janette), Tobi Greene-Hicks (Michael), Wade Greene, Terra Washburn (Jimi), Linzie Currie (Jeremy). 11 Great Grandchildren, Shelby, Taylor, Trent, Kale, Sydni, Kylie, Anthony, Bella, Ava, Rider and Rylee. 8 great-great grandchildren, Barrett, Kolly, Hunter, Kyson, Briar, Daylen, Aura and Kyro.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Irene; sons, Gary Dean Nichols and Dwayne Bradford Nichols; one infant child, a sister, Virginia Birdsong and stepfather, Emery Odus Sapp.

In Lieu of flowers memorial Contributions are suggested to Hartsburg Baptist Church or Hartsburg American Legion Post 424.
