Paul D. Morefield was born January 2, 1943 in Baytown, Texas to Paul D. Morefield, Sr. and Ludmilla Tydlacka Morefield. He passed on June 5, 2026, at the Missouri Veterans home in Mexico, MO. Because of his faith in Jesus Christ, he entered heaven at the point of his death.
The visitation will be at 1:00 and funeral at 2:00 June 13 at the Ashland Baptist Church with burial at the Nashville Church Cemetery.
He was raised by his paternal grandmother Ollie Ethel Morefield and Aunt Ruth Morefield in Camdenton, Missouri where he was known as "Butch". He graduated from Camdenton High School in 1961 and then attended Southwest Baptist College (SBC) in Bolivar, MO and graduated in 1969. Paul was drafted into the Army in 1964 and served in Japan and Vietnam as a medical illustrator until 1966. After returning to SBC, he met Barbara Harmon whom he married in January of 1969.
He began his teaching career at Pacific High School, teaching speech, drama, and debate, as well as directing many well-produced plays. He taught there for 4 years and established life-long friendships with many of his students. Paul entered his insurance sales career which lasted until 2006. He was frequently acknowledged for outstanding work in the insurance industry.
Whatever Paul did, he gave it his total effort. This included his hobbies of coaching softball and baseball teams, golfing, hunting, and his endearing love of fishing. Paul was a member of Little Dixie Bass Club and Ozark Mountain Anglers, earning many awards and trophies. He started and ran his own Bass Tournament Company, holding tournaments all over Missouri. Because of health issues, Paul retired and spent time building and making things for the farm, Paul was active in all the churches he belonged to, including 47 years at Ashland Baptist Church where he served as deacon, teacher, choir member, and a tireless worker on the building of the new church addition in 2002.
Preceding Paul in death were his parents, his grandparents and Aunt Ruth, his three half-brothers from Texas; Jimmy Tydlacka and Larry and Lonnie Buchannan. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Barbara, and their children, Eric Morefield, Brian (Tiffany) Morefield, and Sarah (Jim) Eagon, all of Ashland, his grandchildren, Kiersten Morefield, Jordan and Shelby Eagon, Hazel and Benjamin Morefield and Allyia and Alijiah Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Baptist Church or the Nashville Church Cemetery.
