Obituary

Opal “Nadine” Morris, 96, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord on September 10th, 2026 at the University of Missouri Hospital- ICU, surrounded by her loving family. Nadine was born on June 30, 1930 to the late Rollie and Mable (Nichols) Sapp. She married Bob F. Morris, Jr. on January 23, 1948. In their 55 years of marriage, they had three daughters; Linda, Wanda, and Debra.

She spent many years as a stay-at-home mother and Avon Saleslady; but eventually became a supervisor at the University of Missouri Printing Services.

In earlier years, Nadine was a member of the Oakland Quilting Club of Ashland. Nadine’s interests were beyond typical, though, as she rode horses regularly until the age of 80. Her love of nature did not stop there, Nadine and Robert loved to go camping at the Lake of the Ozarks, Bennett Springs, and Montauk State Park. She would frequent the Ashland Senior Center, mostly playing canasta, attending dinner day, or dancing. Nadine was no stranger to the world of athletics, she was an avid sports fan, whether watching her grandkids at sporting events, rooting on the St. Louis Cardinals, or using her many-year season pass to enjoy a Mizzou basketball game during the Norm Stewart coaching era. Nadine and Bob would play the card game Pitch with friends all night into the next morning and maybe afternoon; both of them were very competitive. In 2021, Nadine settled comfortably into life as a resident of Ashland Villa Assisted Living, where she had many friends.

Nadine is survived by her three daughters; Linda (Phil) Moritz, Wanda (Late Keith) Houser, Debra (Ronnie) Nichols; six grandchildren; Jeffrey Moritz, Wesley (Raquel) Moritz, Erin (Steve) Kelly, Kyle Houser, Travis (Cari) Nichols, Nicole Greening (Ben Bolton); and 10 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Kelly, Hannah Kelly, Hadley Kelly, Brock Nichols, Bo Nichols, Boone Nichols, Mason Greening, Brantley Bolton, Sienna Houser, Samuel Houser; and one bonus great-grandchild, AJ Evans.

Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one stillborn son, Karl W. Morris; her three brothers, Kenneth Sapp, Arcie D. Sapp, and Cecil Sapp; and her son-in-law, Keith Houser.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Salem Baptist Cemetery or The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 12:00p.m at Robinson-Yager Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow the funeral at New Salem Baptist Cemetery in Ashland.
