Nancy Ellen Knehans

Nancy Ellen Knehans, 79, of Ashland, passed away April 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at Caring Hearts and Hands in Columbia.

Nancy was born in Ashland on October 16, 1946, and was the daughter of Leonard and Lillian Peak Nichols. She was a 1964 graduate of Southern Boone High School and a children’s daycare provider from her home for many years, then did various jobs serving people. Nancy was a lifelong Ashland resident who loved her family, was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed cooking, working puzzles and was an avid reader.

Nancy is lovingly remembered by her children, Susan Miller (Kevin) and Joe Miller (Wendy); sister, Carolyn Fischer; grandchildren, Emma and Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by two children a son, Richard and a daughter at birth, Rebecca Lynn; a grandson, Jake and by two brothers, Ernie and Allen Dale.

The family suggests memorials to Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia, 1307 W. Broadway, Columbia, Missouri 65203 or to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, Maryland 21741.

A memorial service may be scheduled by the family at a later date.
