Larry Thomas Poe

Larry Thomas “L.T/Tom” Poe, 76, of Columbia passed away March 20, 2026, at Caring Hearts and Hands in Columbia.

Tom was born in Columbia on April 23, 1949, a son of Stanley and Mildred Bennett Poe. He was employed with the University of Missouri for 39 years in custodial services. Tom loved working outdoors on the farm. Tom enjoyed working on his tractors and machinery, putting up hay, crop farming and caring for his yard. In his younger years his family grew tobacco in Southern Boone County and knew the value of hard work.

He is survived by his stepson and wife, Tom and Shelley Mallory; brothers, Ronnie, Gary, Billy and Roger Poe; grandchildren, Marie Mallory, Damian Cavanaugh, Britney Brown and Kayse Mallory; great grandchildren, Cayson Cavanaugh, Cassidy Cavanaugh and Baylor Brown and by several nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his life partner and best friend of many years, Peggy Mallory; brothers, Raymond and David Poe; sisters, Betty Bowen and Annie Rybolt; grandson, Blake Mallory and stepdaughter, Donna Mallory.

Services honoring Tom’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Robinson-Yager Funeral Home in Ashland. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
