Larry Dee Miller

Larry Dee Miller, 83, of Ashland, Missouri passed away at his home cared for by his family on July 31, 2025.

Larry was born in Rolla, Missouri on November 19, 1941, a son of the late Delmar and Eula Wanetta Earney Miller. He married the love of his life Linda on May 24, 1968, in San Diego, California. She preceded Larry in death on July 15, 2020.

Larry served his nation with honors during the Vietnam War. He served in the US Marine Corps for four years and then made the military his career for twenty-one years in the US Navy. After his Naval discharge as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1984, he was employed at Hoover Dam as a crane operator for six years before moving back to Missouri.

Favorite hobbies and activities for Larry included building model military ships, collecting coins, watching Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, Jeopardy, old western movies – especially John Wayne and going casino hopping. However, most important was spending time with his family, especially his much-loved grandkids. Larry especially valued the time spent with Linda going on cruises and traveling the world.

Those left to cherish Larry’s memory include his daughters, Laura (William) Garrett, Judith (Terry) Norlander and Lariann (Frank) Chavez; sisters, Beverly Simmons and Judith (Harold) Brown; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great -great grandchild; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Larry was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Miller, grandson, Timothy Chavez and a brother, Richard Miller.

Services honoring Larry’s life will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, August 4, 2025, at Robinson-Yager Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 8. 2025, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.
