Joseph William Perkins, also known as “Pistol” of Harrisburg, joined his beloved wife in Heaven on June 26, 2026. He passed peacefully, at home, at the age of 83.
Joe was born on April 19, 1943, in Columbia, Missouri. Joe was raised in Columbia and graduated from Hickman High School. On June 21, 1963, he married Carol Sue Miles, and together they raised 2 sons in Columbia until moving to Harrisburg in 2011.
Joe was a Christian and a member of Nashville Baptist Church, Ashland. Joe served as a deacon for many years. While living in Harrisburg, Joe and Sue attended Harrisburg Christian Church.
Joe worked for BD Simon North American Moving, Robert Sapp Excavating, and later was a foreman for Emery Sapp & Sons for nearly 30 years. Joe’s greatest enjoyment came from working on his farm. He loved all aspects of farm life and shared that love with his grandson, Zach. Joe collected toy tractors, of which Minneapolis Moline was a favorite.
Joe is survived by two brothers, Robert Perkins and Jimmy (Debbie) Perkins; one sister, Jenny Foster (Lee); two sons, Larry (Amy) of Neosho, and Tony (Tracy) of Columbia; and four grandchildren, Haley, Braden, Zachary, and Ella. He will be lovingly remembered by a host of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to Cadence Mahoney (Zach’s girlfriend) for her loving care of Joe over the past few months.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Sue on March 5, 2026, an infant son, Joseph William Perkins, Jr., on March 4, 1966, and his parents Clifford & Joann Perkins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Nashville Baptist Cemetery in Ashland.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 4p.m.- 6p.m. at Robinson-Yager Funeral Home with a funeral service on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow the funeral at Nashville Baptist Cemetery in Ashland.
