James Oran Davis

James Oran Davis, 80, passed away at the University of Missouri hospital on January 21st, 2026.

He was born in Boone County Missouri at what is now known as Rockbridge State Park to the late Shannon and Velma (Winn) Davis on June 24th, 1945.

On December 26th, 1964 James married the love of his life, Dorothy Pulis. Their marriage one of love, devotion and a true partnership. They shared 61 wonderful years together.

James worked on his family farm, after high school he began working at the City of Columbia Municipal power plant, known to his co-workers as JO. He worked in many capacities eventually becoming supervisor. He worked 35 years before retiring.

James and Dorothy loved traveling and were Florida snowbirds for many years until health issues made it too difficult. He enjoyed steam engine shows, rodeos, BBQing and watching old westerns. He rarely met a stranger and had the greatest stories.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Davis, and many nieces and nephews as well as friends and neighbors who became like family. He was predeceased by siblings Boyd, Aubrey and Paul and sister Mary Smith.
