Helen M. Quinn, 92, of Hartsburg, MO passed away October 21, 2025, at Jefferson City Manor.
Helen was born in rural Ashland on January 29, 1933, a daughter of Arvil Gabriel and Mamie Josephine Hollicker Walker. She married Arthur Quinn on October 29, 1949, in Cedar City, MO. Arthur preceded her in death on October 11, 1994.
Helen was a homemaker with the most important job of mom, grandma and great grandma. She was affectionately nicknamed Maw by her family members and was known as the matriarch and “boss” of the Quinn family. She was a hard worker and only sat down to watch her favorite game show, Wheel of Fortune and her favorite soap opera, As the World Turns. She was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Hartsburg where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and helped with bereavement dinners. Helen enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and was a member of Friendship Club. She was known for making her very strong brewed sweet tea.
Helen and Arthur were the parents of two daughters, Gwen Martin and husband, Larry of Hartsburg and Melody Nichols and husband, Reed of Ashland. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chad Martin (Shelley) of Ashland, Brett Martin (Leslie) of Ashland and Krista Moore (Andrew) of Columbia and great grandchildren, Abigail Moore, Chris Dibben, Jonathon Martin, Maddie Martin and Lawson Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Larry Martin; and by half siblings, Arvil Walker, Jr., Gene Walker, Henry Ray Nichols, Bob Walker and Ruby Carey.
Funeral services honoring Helen’s life will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Hartsburg with Mike Quinn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
